Five weeks into the U.S.-Iran war, with oil prices up more than 55% in a single month and gasoline averaging $4 a gallon nationwide, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told a Harvard economics class on March 30 that the central bank's current interest rate is "a good place for us to wait and see how that turns out" [1]. The Timeline Problem

Even if Powell decides to act, the Fed's institutional machinery imposes a lag. The FOMC meets on a fixed schedule: the next meeting is April 28–29, followed by June 16–17, July 28–29, and September 15–16 [15]. Emergency inter-meeting actions are rare and reserved for acute financial crises.
