Alexander Brothers Convicted of Sex Trafficking
TL;DR
Oren, Alon, and Tal Alexander — once among New York's most powerful luxury real estate brokers — were convicted on all 10 federal counts of sex trafficking, conspiracy, and sexual exploitation on March 9, 2026, after a five-week trial in which 11 women testified they were drugged and raped. The brothers, who brokered deals for celebrities and billionaires while secretly operating what prosecutors called a "calculated, brutal" predatory scheme spanning from 2008 to 2022, face a minimum of 15 years and up to life in prison when sentenced on August 6, 2026.
On Monday, March 9, 2026, a jury of six men and six women in Manhattan federal court delivered a verdict that sent shockwaves through the world of luxury real estate: guilty on all counts. Oren and Alon Alexander, 38-year-old twins, and their older brother Tal Alexander, 39, were convicted on all 10 federal counts of sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, sexual exploitation, and aggravated sexual abuse .
The verdict capped a five-week trial that laid bare a staggering pattern of predation — a yearslong conspiracy in which three brothers allegedly used their immense wealth, social connections, and opulent lifestyle to lure, drug, and rape scores of women across luxury vacation destinations from the Hamptons to Aspen to the Caribbean .
"These are chilling, reprehensible, and unacceptable acts," U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton said after the verdict. "This verdict cannot undo the effects of heinous abuse the Alexanders' many victims endured, but it does send a message: New Yorkers want to bring an end to sex trafficking in all our communities" .
The Rise of 'The A Team'
To understand the magnitude of this fall, one must first understand the heights from which the Alexander brothers descended.
Born to Israeli immigrant parents Shlomo and Orly Alexander, who founded Kent Security Services in Miami in 1982, the three brothers grew up immersed in both wealth and ambition . Their father was also a residential developer, and the brothers followed him into real estate, eventually building what became one of the most celebrated teams in luxury brokerage.
In 2012, Oren and Tal Alexander founded the Alexander Team at Douglas Elliman Real Estate, quickly earning the nickname "The A Team" for their dominance in the ultra-luxury market . Their client roster read like a who's who of American celebrity and wealth: Leon Black, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Steve Madden, and Tommy Hilfiger, among others . By 2021, their team had closed more than $1.8 billion in sales, accounting for 3.5 percent of Elliman's $51.2 billion in business that year . They were ranked the top Douglas Elliman team by gross commission income and sales volume in both New York and Florida.
In June 2022, at the peak of their fame, Oren and Tal left Douglas Elliman to launch their own firm, "Official," backed by white-label brokerage platform Side . Alon Alexander, the third brother, worked at the family's private security firm rather than in real estate directly.
The brothers' empire extended far beyond commissions. The Alexander family amassed multimillion-dollar holdings including waterfront mansions in Bal Harbour and Miami Beach, and a 48-acre ranch outside of Aspen, Colorado . When later attempting to secure bail after their arrests, the family offered $115 million in real estate holdings — an offer the court rejected .
The Arrests and Indictment
On December 11, 2024, FBI agents arrested all three brothers in Miami Beach, Florida . The superseding federal indictment charged them with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, multiple counts of sex trafficking, inducing persons to travel to engage in unlawful sexual activity, aggravated sexual abuse, and — most disturbingly — sex trafficking of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor .
Prosecutors alleged that the conspiracy spanned from 2008 to 2022, during which more than 60 women reported being raped by one or more of the brothers . The brothers were denied bail in January 2025 and remained jailed throughout the proceedings, with prosecutors warning of a flight risk given the family's connections to Israel .
Inside the Trial: A Pattern of Predation
The trial, which began in early February 2026, presented a harrowing mosaic of testimony and evidence. Eleven women took the stand to describe what federal prosecutor Andrew Jones called "crushing evidence" that the brothers "masqueraded as party boys when really they were predators" .
The prosecution's case rested on several pillars.
A systematic method of targeting. The brothers met women at nightclubs, parties, and on dating apps, then invited them on trips to luxury destinations — paying for flights, providing high-end lodging, and projecting an image of wealth and glamour . Victims came from different professions and cities, had never met each other, yet described what prosecutors called "near identical experiences" .
Drugging as a weapon. At least eight of the 11 testifying women claimed they were drugged during their attacks . Many described becoming disoriented after consuming less than one drink provided by one of the brothers. Lindsey Acree, an artist and gallery owner in Brooklyn, testified she was raped by Tal Alexander and a second man at a home in the Hamptons in the summer of 2011 after becoming "so disoriented from drinking less than half a glass of wine that she felt paralyzed" .
Digital evidence. Prosecutors presented text messages and emails in which the brothers appeared to boast about their sexual exploits and discuss the effects of various drugs on women's inhibitions. A blog maintained by the brothers included posts titled "It's not rape if … you use her tears as lube" and "It's not rape if … she secretly wants it" . Prosecutors also showed evidence that the brothers emailed about sneaking drugs — referred to as "party favors" — onto a cruise ship, recorded at least one assault on video, and shared photos of their victims .
Testimony spanning years and locations. The women described attacks at vacation locales including the Hamptons, a Caribbean cruise, and ski trips in Aspen, Colorado . One woman, the daughter of a billionaire, testified she was raped by Alon Alexander in Aspen in 2017, when she was just 17 years old . Another described being drugged and assaulted by both Alon and Oren on a cruise ship . A woman testified that Tal Alexander drugged her in a hot tub, then assaulted her in a gym while laughing .
The Defense: 'Entitled Assholes,' Not Criminals
The defense mounted a strategy centered on character concession but legal distinction. Attorneys acknowledged the brothers' behavior was crude and reprehensible — but argued it did not rise to the level of federal sex trafficking.
"They would have won asshole awards," one defense attorney told the jury, while insisting the brothers' conduct did not constitute criminal behavior . Howard Srebnick, representing Alon Alexander, told the jury the government built its case on "speculation, unreliable memories and party encounters" rather than evidence of recruitment, transportation, or coercion .
Defense lawyers challenged the credibility and motives of the accusers, suggesting the sex was consensual and that the women were motivated by financial gain . They argued the brothers never truly promised something of value in exchange for sex — a key element of federal sex trafficking law. "Just because someone has a house and a sex act happens in that house, doesn't make it sex trafficking," one defense attorney argued .
The jury was unconvinced. After approximately two and a half days of deliberation, they returned guilty verdicts on all counts .
Prosecutors initially pursued 12 counts but dropped two sex trafficking charges mid-trial after witnesses allegedly faced intimidation .
The Broader Fallout
The conviction of the Alexander brothers has sent ripple effects well beyond the courtroom.
Douglas Elliman under scrutiny. The Department of Justice has sought information about the Alexander brothers from Douglas Elliman, the brokerage where Oren and Tal spent a decade . Under DOJ pressure, the company directed employees to preserve documents related to travel by the Alexander brothers and allegations of wrongdoing, including alleged drug use, sexual harassment, or misconduct . Douglas Elliman has also been sued for allegedly enabling the brothers' conduct.
An avalanche of civil litigation. Beyond the criminal case, the trio faces approximately two dozen civil lawsuits . Most recently, Tracy Tutor, a star of Bravo's "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles," filed suit against Oren Alexander for trafficking and gender-motivated violence under a newly enacted New York City law opening a look-back window for those crimes . Tutor alleges that in 2014, she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Alexander at a recruitment event for Douglas Elliman .
In another civil case, Tiffany Rodriguez alleged in Florida federal court that the twins drugged her in a Miami nightclub in 2016, then forced her into a car and drove her to Oren Alexander's Sunny Isles Beach apartment, where they restrained her and took turns raping her .
Family finances at risk. The Alexander family's multimillion-dollar business and real estate empire, built over four decades, now faces existential threat from both criminal forfeiture proceedings and the wave of civil litigation .
A Reckoning for an Industry
The Alexander brothers case arrives at a moment of heightened scrutiny over the culture of the luxury real estate industry, where enormous wealth, exclusive access, and social power create asymmetries that can be exploited. The brothers weaponized the very attributes that made them successful brokers — charm, connections, and the promise of an aspirational lifestyle — to target and victimize women.
The case also underscores ongoing challenges in prosecuting sex trafficking. According to the Department of Justice, federal human trafficking prosecutions have grown significantly over the past decade — the number of persons prosecuted more than doubled from 805 in 2012 to 1,656 in 2022 . However, recent data shows a decline: in FY 2024, the DOJ initiated 146 federal human trafficking prosecutions and charged 223 defendants, down from 181 prosecutions and 258 defendants in FY 2023. Convictions fell from 289 in FY 2023 to 210 in FY 2024 .
The vast majority of those convicted — 91 percent — are male, and 95 percent are U.S. citizens, challenging common misconceptions about who perpetrates these crimes .
What Comes Next
The Alexander brothers face a minimum sentence of 15 years and the possibility of life in prison when they appear before U.S. Judge Valerie Caproni on August 6, 2026 .
The defense has signaled it will fight on. "There are a lot of avenues open to us," attorneys said after the verdict, expressing belief they would "prevail" on appeal . The Alexander family called the verdict "deeply disappointing" and promised to fight "every day until justice is done" .
For the women who testified, the verdict represents a measure of accountability that many spent years seeking. Lindsey Acree, who sued the Alexanders, explained her motivation: "They kept calling us gold diggers, shake-down artists, con artists." She told the jury simply: "If there's a kid with a stick who keeps hitting people, you take their stick away" .
The 17-year-old who testified about being raped by Alon Alexander in Aspen offered perhaps the most pointed assessment of what justice means in this case. "I don't want their money," she told jurors. "I just don't want them to have it" .
