Less than 24 hours after the U.S. and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire mediated by Pakistan on April 7, 2026, the deal began to fracture over a fundamental disagreement: whether Lebanon and Hezbollah are covered by the truce. Iran has threatened to withdraw from the agreement and re-closed the Strait of Hormuz after Israel launched its deadliest single-day assault on Lebanon, killing at least 254 people, insisting the ceasefire "does not include Lebanon."
