Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have demonstrated for the first time that experimental KRAS-targeting drugs can eliminate microscopic precancerous lesions in the pancreas before they develop into tumors, tripling survival in mouse models. The breakthrough, published in Science, offers the strongest evidence yet for "cancer interception" as a strategy against pancreatic cancer — the third-leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. with a five-year survival rate stuck at 13%.
