1 revisions for "Split Verdict: Judge Suppresses Key Backpack Evidence in Luigi Mangione Murder Case, but Allows Alleged Gun and Manifesto"

Anonymous2 days ago

A New York judge partially granted Luigi Mangione's motion to suppress evidence seized from his backpack during his December 2024 arrest at a Pennsylvania McDonald's, ruling that police conducted an unconstitutional warrantless search when the bag was outside Mangione's reach. Five items including a cellphone, passport, and ammunition magazine were excluded, but the alleged murder weapon and notebook recovered during a later station-house inventory search will be admitted at the September 2026 state trial for the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
