Trichloroethylene (TCE), an industrial degreasing solvent used since the 1920s, has been linked to significantly elevated Parkinson's disease risk across multiple large-scale studies — including a sixfold increase in an occupational twin study and a 70% higher risk among Camp Lejeune veterans. With drinking water supplies for over 19 million Americans contaminated and the chemical present at more than 800 Superfund sites, the EPA finalized a ban in December 2024, but industry groups are now lobbying to reverse it.
